Founded in 1912 and headquartered in Colleferro (Rome), Avio is an internationally recognised leader in the design, manufacture and integration of launch vehicles and space propulsion systems.

As prime contractor of ESA's Vega family of small launchers, the group designs and produces solid and liquid propulsion systems for institutional, governmental and commercial customers, placing satellite payloads into earth orbit across a broad range of mission profiles. Its activities also extend to tactical propulsion and defence applications.

Avio employs more than 1,500 people and operates across Italy, France and French Guiana, maintaining long-standing relationships with the European Space Agency and other institutional partners worldwide.
